1. Changing the diameter of the tube would affect how easy it is to move air into and out of the balloon because if the diameter increased it would allow more oxygen to enter the balloon in a shorter length of time. The opposite would happen if the diameter was decreased, less oxygen would be able to enter the balloon and it would take longer for the balloon to be filled. This relates to asthma because when a person undergoes an asthma attack excess mucus is produced in the trachea and bronchioles, this means that the tracheas diameter is decreased as the mucus limits the volume of oxygen able to enter the lungs in one breath meaning the person suffering from the attack would find it hard to breathe.
2. I could improve on this model by adding another balloon to represent the two lungs and also by making the plastic sheet more elastic so it would expand more when the lungs are inflated.
